Finding and Keeping a Job (NDIS Funding)
The NDIS can provide funding under Finding and Keeping a Job (FAKAJ) to support participants who want to prepare for, find, and maintain meaningful employment. This support focuses on building capacity, developing new skills, and ensuring that workplace environments are accessible and sustainable for long-term success.
How Occupational Therapy Can Assist
Our Occupational Therapists (OTs) provide tailored support to help participants develop the skills, confidence, and independence needed to achieve their employment goals.
We can assist with:
Individual Assessments and Skill Development – identifying strengths, areas of need, and building capacity for work-related tasks such as time management, social communication, organisation, or physical abilities.
Workplace Preparation and Support – preparing for interviews, developing resumes, practicing workplace routines, and learning strategies to manage anxiety or executive function challenges.
Workplace Modifications – recommending adaptive equipment, ergonomic set-ups, or environmental changes to ensure the workplace is accessible and safe.
Job Placement and Support – liaising with support coordinators, DES (Disability Employment Services), and employers to find a suitable job match.
On-the-Job Support – helping participants transition into a role, problem-solve challenges, and build confidence in workplace tasks.
Education and Training Pathways – supporting the transition into further study, vocational training, or skill development programs aligned with employment goals.
Reports We Provide
Our OTs provide high-quality reports to support funding decisions
, workplace planning, and progress monitoring, including:
Initial Assessment Report – outlining baseline skills and capacity.
Job Readiness Report – identifying readiness for employment and recommendations for support.
Progress Reports – tracking skill development and workplace integration.
Workplace Assessment Report – evaluating the workplace environment and recommending modifications.
Job Maintenance Report – strategies and supports for sustaining long-term employment.
Plan Review Reports – evidence to support NDIS funding continuation or changes.
Why It Matters
Finding and keeping a job is about more than employment—it’s about independence, purpose, and building a meaningful life. Our OT team is here to ensure participants are equipped with the right skills, supports, and environment to thrive in their chosen workplace.
